Along the way, visit the Geffersa Reservoir, home to many bird species, and drive across the Menagesha Forest to Ambo, source of Ethiopia's well-known sparkling mineral water. Continue past Ambo town through stunning landscapes to reach Wenchi Crater Lake. From the hilltop you can see a monastery on the lake's island, then trek down to the shore of the crater lake. Take a local boat across to visit the island church, with horse riding and hiking also available as optional activities.
